Traditionally, children learnt how to cook from watching and then helping in the kitchen at home. This is an activity that is being shared less as our lives are getting busier, so at Unicorn we involve children in preparing food. We encourage you to do the same with your child whenever you have the time.
Play dough is a great tool to build and develop strength and con- trol in the hands, fingers and wrists. This strength and control sup- ports the use of writing tools, scissors and the ability to throw and catch objects. Playing with play dough and the repetitive moulding and manipulating really gives fine motor muscles a real work out.
At Unicorn we are committed to keeping our children safe. By providing a safe environment for children to learn and play, and by identifying children who are, or may be, suffering harm, the nursery endeavors to ensure that they are kept safe at nursery and at home.
Anyone visiting the nursery shares the responsibility to keep children safe whilst on our premises and will be required to work within the guidelines of our safeguarding procedures.
